Today: Egyptian National Railways operates discounted trains to celebrate its 175th anniversary

Today, the Egyptian National Railways Authority (ENR) is operating special discounted trains with air-conditioned third-class coaches as part of its celebrations marking the 175th anniversary of the establishment of the Egyptian railway system—the first railway network in Africa and the Middle East.

According to the Authority's statement, today's special train will operate on the Cairo–Ismailia line according to the following schedule:

Cairo – Ismailia Line

Operating dates: Saturday, July 11, Monday, July 13, and Wednesday, July 15, 2026.

Train No. 1017 (Air-conditioned Third Class): Departs Cairo at 6:40 a.m. and arrives in Ismailia at 9:20 a.m.
Return Train No. 1016: Departs Ismailia at 9:00 p.m. and arrives in Cairo at 11:40 p.m.

Discounted fares:

EGP 80 for a one-way ticket.
EGP 120 for a round-trip ticket.
Cairo – Alexandria Line

For the line serving the Bride of the Mediterranean, special discounted services will begin tomorrow, Sunday, July 12.

Operating dates: Sunday, July 12, Tuesday, July 14, and Thursday, July 16, 2026.

Train No. 1019 (Air-conditioned Third Class): Departs Cairo at 5:40 a.m. and arrives in Alexandria at 8:30 a.m.
Return Train No. 1018: Departs Alexandria at 9:10 p.m. and arrives in Cairo at 12:00 midnight.

Discounted fares:

EGP 90 for a one-way ticket.
EGP 140 for a round-trip ticket.

The Authority confirmed that outbound tickets can be booked through all available booking channels throughout the operating period, while return tickets will be issued only through station ticket counters.

It also stressed that only passengers holding tickets specifically issued for these trains will be permitted to travel. These tickets are non-refundable and cannot be used on other train services. Penalties and applicable railway regulations will be enforced in cases of non-compliance.

To add a festive atmosphere to the celebrations, the Authority announced that it will hold a daily prize draw for passengers traveling on these special services. Winners will receive commemorative gifts to mark their participation in this historic milestone.
