Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber attended a ceremony at the Cairo governorate headquarters honoring students who have memorized the Holy Qur’an. The event was organized by the Regional Union of NGOs in cooperation with the Directorates of Social Solidarity and Endowments, marking the anniversary of Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.
During the celebration, 73 students from various educational stages and 29 NGOs were recognized for their efforts in supporting Qur’an memorization and encouraging young people to uphold religious values and principles.
Governor Saber also expressed his happiness at meeting the honorees, noting that the gathering reflects the highest meanings of faith and gratitude, and embodies pride in the achievements of the students. He emphasized that honoring Qur’an memorizers should not be limited to the act of memorization itself, but must extend to instilling values, principles, and behaviors that shape conscious individuals and generations guided by the light of the Qur’an.
Saber added that celebrating Prophet’s birthday gives the occasion special significance, as it commemorates the birth of the prophet whose exemplary life embodied ethics, mercy, work, and knowledge. Following his example, the governor stressed, is a path to building individuals and reinforcing positive values in society.
Moreover, Saber stated that memorizing the Qur’an is a great honor and also a profound responsibility, as the Qur’an was revealed not only to be preserved in hearts but to be lived through conduct, ethics, compassion, honesty, respect for others, and service to the nation. He affirmed that each memorizer represents a potential source of goodness for their family, community, and country, if their memorization is coupled with understanding and practice of its values.
Saber also congratulated the honored students and extended appreciation to their parents for their dedication and support, stressing that families are essential partners in this success. He also expressed gratitude to the Regional Union of NGOs for organizing the initiative, highlighting the vital role of civil society in building individuals, instilling values, and promoting positive role models for future generations.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Ezz Farghal, President of the Regional Union of NGOs, Dr. Sameh Fahim, Director of the Social Solidarity Directorate, Dr. Ahmed Gamal, Director of the Endowments Directorate, along with several officials from the Cairo governorate and members of The House of Representatives.
