Education: Baccalaureate exams to be based on sample papers.

Education Ministry: Baccalaureate exams will be based on guidance models

Education and Technical Education Minister Mohamed Abdel Latif confirmed that the four-exam-model system currently used in the General Secondary Education Certificate will also be applied to the Egyptian Baccalaureate Certificate system. He explained that the ministry will provide students with guidance models, and that exams will be based on the material taught in the school textbook, the assessment book, and the guidance models. He also stressed the important role of teachers in the educational process and the need to focus on them as one of the key elements in developing the education system.

Regarding the number of teachers, the minister denied that there is a shortage of teachers for core subjects, explaining that the ministry is working on new appointments in the coming period after completing the necessary procedures and obtaining the required approvals. This will help meet staffing needs and reduce reliance on part-time teachers. He noted that the number of part-time teachers varies from one year to another depending on schools’ needs, pointing out that the ministry employed around 160,000 part-time teachers during the previous academic year, with new appointments planned for the coming period.

He explained that both part-time teachers and ministry-appointed teachers are graduates of faculties of education, with the difference between them relating to the terms of their contracts and employment arrangements. He confirmed that the ministry regularly transfers the allocated financial payments to part-time teachers and that any delays in some cases are related to administrative procedures.

The Minister of Education stressed the need to rely on data and statistics when evaluating exam standards rather than relying solely on individual opinions regarding the difficulty or ease of questions. He explained that the evaluation of exam results should be based on a comprehensive analysis of students’ scores, pass rates, and performance levels.
