Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber conducted an inspection tour of the Magra El-Oyoun Aqueduct and the Sayyeda Aisha areas to follow up on ongoing renovation work as part of the redevelopment plan for Sayyeda Aisha within the framework of the Historic Cairo restoration project.
Governor Saber inspected the restoration work on the archeological aqueduct, the construction of the adjacent walkway, and the upgrade of the public lighting system by adding heritage-style light poles that complement the archaeological site's character. He also reviewed landscaping initiatives and the improvement of streets and the surrounding urban environment, ensuring alignment with the area's historical significance.
Furthermore, Saber stated that the ongoing renovations aim to transform the area into a cultural and tourist destination by linking the Religious Complex, the Magra El-Oyoun Aqueduct, and the Mosques of Aal El-Bayt. These renovations will help boost tourism and improve the quality of life for local residents. He emphasized the importance of adhering to the established timelines and maintaining the highest standards of quality throughout the implementation process.
Saber further instructed the executive authorities to monitor progress rates daily, promptly remove any obstacles that may hinder the work, preserve the district’s distinguished image, and maintain continuous coordination with relevant bodies to complete the project according to the approved plan. This reflects the state’s commitment to developing Historic Cairo and highlighting its status as one of the world’s most important heritage cities.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Ashraf Mansour and several officials from the Cairo Governorate.
