Cairo Gov. inspects development work in El-Khalifa district

3 September 2022

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inspected Saturday the ongoing development work of El-Ashraf Street in the El-Khalifa district following President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to increase the efficiency of the path of Ahl Al-Bayt shrines in Historic Cairo and turn it into an open museum for visitors from Egypt, Arab, and Islamic countries.

During his tour, the governor directed to accelerate the ongoing development of Al-Ashraf Street, which would be similar to El-Moez Street in historical and touristic significance as the development work includes linking all shrines together to serve visitors to the Ahl Al-Bayt shrines.

The governor said that the street witnessed a major infrastructure upgrade, including renewing and replacing the water and wastewater network, paving roads, installing a new lighting system, painting building facades, and renovating mosques and shrines in the street.

Moreover, the governor pointed out that Cairo’s Cleaning and Beautification Authority installed wooden benches and planted trees. The development work will also include renovating heritage buildings to preserve the place’s spirit and installing a fountain in the area surrounding the El-Khalifa Public Park.
