Cairo Governor visits International Flower Expo ‘Autum Edition’ in Zamalek

Cairo Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber visited the third autumn edition of the International Flower Exhibition. The expo, held under the auspices of the Cairo Governorate at Horreya Park until October 20, features 40 plant nursery owners and 30 productive families.

The governor was accompanied by Deputy Cairo Governor Dr. Ahmad Anwar El-Adl and several senior officials from the Cairo Governorate.

The exhibition is being organized as part of Cairo Governorate’s plan to expand tree planting and increase green spaces by encouraging citizens to buy and grow plants. It also aims to raise awareness of ornamental plants, shade trees, cacti, fruit tree saplings, landscaping supplies, and modern irrigation systems.

The exhibition also offers visitors an opportunity to learn about plants that can be grown in homes, balconies, and gardens, helping to promote a culture of greening and encourage community participation in efforts to expand green areas. This comes alongside the governorate’s ongoing work to develop and upgrade parks and open spaces and enhance the capital’s urban appearance.

Moreover, the exhibition features a pavilion dedicated to traditional handicrafts and products by productive families, alongside a range of products including mountain honey, extra virgin olive oil, medicinal herbs, and handmade pottery. The event provides a valuable platform for marketing local products and supporting small business owners and artisans.

Governor Saber said that expanding green spaces is beyond the idea of enhancing the urban landscape but a fundamental strategy to improve the quality of life in the capital. He added that the governorate is committed to supporting initiatives that promote tree planting and increase residents’ access to green spaces. It also supports initiatives to upgrade and improve public parks.

Saber added that the International Flower Exhibition serves as an important platform for transforming the culture of greening into a community practice by introducing citizens to different plant varieties, cultivation methods, and maintenance techniques, while making greening supplies readily available. He added that the participation of citizens, plant nursery owners, and civil society organizations is essential to the success of Cairo’s greening strategy.

Saber further stated that the exhibition combines environmental and economic objectives by supporting plant nursery owners, productive families, and artisans while creating opportunities to market their products. This will reinforce the concept of sustainable development and link the greening of the capital with support for the local economy.
