As part of its ongoing activities to promote mental well-being through creativity, the “Museum of Recovery and Development” project continued its art therapy workshops. The workshops blend expression through art and self-awareness. The activities were held under the auspices of Head of the Fine Arts Sector Dr Mahmoud Hamed and Head of the Central Department for Museums and Exhibitions Dr Salwa Hamdy.
The activities of the recovery museum project began at the Mahmud Khalil Museum with a sculpture workshop led by Amal El-Husseiny, a psychotherapist, art therapist, and chairperson of the Amal Foundation for Free Thought and Community Consulting.
The workshop offered participants a unique opportunity to express their ideas and feelings through creative means and to transform what was inside them into tangible forms bearing their own personal imprint.
Following that, the museum held a mandala drawing workshop as a unique experience that blended colors, focus, and meditation. The workshop was led by Al-Shaimaa Galal, one of the coordinators of the Recovery Project, to give participants a calm space for self-expression and enjoying the present moment.
The museum officials said through these events that art becomes more than just a traditional creative practice; it becomes a safe space for expression, communication, self-discovery, and creating moments of depth and meaning, where every color is a feeling, every shape is a story, and every workshop is a new step in the journey of recovery.
