As part of the Egyptian Ministry of Culture’s celebrations of the Prophet’s Birthday (Mawlid al-Nabawi al-Sharif), the Creativity Center at the Ghori Complex on Al-Azhar Street—affiliated with the Cultural Development Fund—will host a religious evening on Thursday, August 27, at 7:30 p.m., featuring the “Al-Hadra al-Masreya” troupe.
During the evening, the troupe will present a selection of nasheeds, prophetic praise songs (Madeeh Nabawi), and supplications inspired by Egypt’s Sufi heritage. This gathering will blend the arts of madeeh (praise of Prophet Muhammad) and zikr (remembrance of God and chanting His name), embodying the values of love, purity, and spirituality.
The Al-Hadra al-Masreya Troupe is renowned for its Sufi and Allah-loving chants and supplications, such as Gi’tu Elayak in praise of Sayyeda Zainab; Da’amn ala El-Khater in praise of Prophet Muhammad, peace and prayers upon him; Sobhan Man Atakom; and Askaratni fi shathaha.
The Al-Hadra al-Masreya Troupe brings together chanters from various Sufi orders and Sufi courtyards, united by their dedication to the art of religious chanting and prophetic praise, presenting Egypt’s Sufi heritage in a contemporary artistic style.
