Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced that Saturday, April 25, will be an official paid holiday for public sector employees in observance of Sinai Liberation Day.
The decision applies to employees in ministries, government agencies, public authorities, local administration units, and public and public business sector companies.
Sinai Liberation Day is a public holiday in Egypt observed annually on April 25, marking Israel’s withdrawal from the Sinai Peninsula in 1982 and the restoration of Egyptian sovereignty under the 1979 peace treaty.
Meanwhile, Taba, the last remaining area of the peninsula, returned to Egypt in 1988 following international arbitration.
