About

The Central Crisis Management Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, has recommended the suspension of shop closure orders for public stores, shopping centers, restaurants, cafes, and sports facilities during the upcoming Coptic holiday week.

This recommendation is scheduled for discussion during the Cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

The committee meeting, held at the government headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, also addressed the latest regional developments and the potential repercussions of the US-Israeli-Iranian war.

Counselor Mohamed El-Homsani, the official spokesperson for the Cabinet, stated that the meeting reviewed the impact of regional tensions on Egypt. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Egyptian state, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, to coordinate with international partners to de-escalate Middle East tensions and prevent the region from descending into further instability.

The meeting also addressed global economic challenges affecting Egypt, particularly rising energy prices and supply chain disruptions. The government reviewed efforts to ensure the availability of essential goods at appropriate prices and to secure petroleum products necessary for national production and consumption.

Spokesperson El-Homsani noted that the committee evaluated various measures taken to address the complex crisis. These included reviewing the implementation status of measures to rationalize energy consumption, securing raw materials for vital industries such as pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, and monitoring detailed reports on commodity prices and market activity nationwide to ensure a sufficient supply of essential goods.

The spokesperson confirmed that the recommendation to suspend closure orders for shops, restaurants, and social clubs during the Coptic holiday week will be officially presented to the Cabinet on Wednesday.

On this occasion, the Prime Minister and Cabinet members extended their congratulations to His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, as well as to all Coptic citizens in Egypt and abroad, wishing them continued health and prosperity.

The meeting was attended by the Governor of the Central Bank and the Ministers of Economic Affairs, Health, Electricity, Finance, Tourism, Supply, Foreign Affairs, Agriculture, Petroleum, Investment, Planning, and Industry, along with several high-ranking officials from relevant agencies.
