Egypt’s
Health Minister Khaled Abdel Ghaffar discussed cooperation with Russia’s Dmitry
Rogachev National Medical Research Center on childhood cancer treatment during
a visit to Moscow.
The Egyptian health
ministry said the meeting, held on the sidelines of the Healthy Life Forum in
Russia, aimed to exchange expertise between the two countries in treating pediatric
blood disorders and cancers and improving long-term treatment outcomes.
Abdel Ghaffar said
the Russian center is a leading global institution in pediatric oncology and hematology
research, stressing Egypt’s interest in expanding medical and scientific
cooperation with Russia.
Health ministry
spokesperson Hossam Abdel Ghaffar said the minister reviewed the center’s
advanced treatment approaches, including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, targeted
therapies, gene therapy and stem cell transplantation.
Discussions also
focused on training opportunities for Egyptian doctors in pediatric oncology
and hematology, as well as potential collaboration in medical research,
clinical trials and advanced diagnostic techniques including precision
medicine.
Officials also
discussed cooperation between specialized childhood cancer treatment centers in
Egypt, including health ministry hospitals, university hospitals and the
Children’s Cancer Hospital 57357, with plans for reciprocal visits to exchange
expertise.
The talks also
covered potential collaboration in radiology, nuclear medicine, blood
transfusion services and the management of blood disorders among children and
adolescents.
