Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk announced exceptional customs facilities for “transit” shipments passing through Egyptian ports.

Procedures can now be completed without the advance cargo information system (ACI), easing the flow of goods to their final destinations, the minister said.

The move is designed to help resolve supply chain disruptions between Europe and the Gulf and support global trade, he added.

Ahmed Amoui, head of the Customs Authority, explained that the exemption from ACI registration will last three months. He added that transit shipments will receive priority handling to speed clearance. 

The measures apply to goods already stuck in ports and those shipped after the outbreak of the Iran war. Officials said the decision will reduce pressure on supply chains and facilitate international commerce.
