Minister
of Communications and Information Technology Raafat Hindi unveiled that the
government has adopted a series of key executive measures to empower Egypt’s
technology community.
This announcement
was made during the first meeting of the National Council for Artificial
Intelligence (NCAI) under its new mandate. The move reflects Egypt’s commitment
to aligning with global trends in advanced technologies.
The minister
confirmed that the executive plan for the National Artificial Intelligence
Strategy (2025–2030) was approved, alongside 56 supporting sub-indicators to
monitor progress. The initiative aims to strengthen implementation of the
national strategy and expand the application of AI technologies across various
sectors.
The NCAI also
endorsed the activation of Egypt’s open data policy, together with the
formation of a temporary joint committee to enhance data accessibility. The
measure is expected to create new opportunities for startups and developers to
design innovative digital solutions and smart applications that benefit
citizens while supporting the growth of Egypt’s digital economy.
In addition, the
council approved a national governance work plan for 2026, which includes
developing guidelines for the safe use of AI applications targeting children,
with the chief aim of promoting responsible and secure adoption of emerging
technologies.
Hindi highlighted
the launch of a capacity-building program in AI, targeting government
institutions as well as partners across Arab and African countries. Implemented
in co-operation with the UNESCO, the program aims to strengthen expertise and
facilitate knowledge transfer in this critical field.
“Egypt is expanding
its international partnerships, submitting a request to join the Steering
Committee for New and Emerging Digital Technologies (CDNET) as an observer
member, a step expected to enhance the country’s participation in global
discussions on technology and digital transformation,” Minister Hindi said.
He emphasized that
the government will continue to build a secure and innovative information
infrastructure that serves citizens while reinforcing Egypt’s position as a
regional and global hub for data and artificial intelligence.
