Egypt will observe an official paid holiday from March 19 to March 23 to mark Eid al-Fitr for public sector employees, according to a decree issued by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday.
The decision applies to employees working in ministries, government departments, public authorities, local administration units, public sector companies and public business sector enterprises.
Astronomical calculations suggest that Ramadan this year will last 29 days in Egypt, making Thursday, March 19, 2026, the final day of the blessed month.
That night will mark the eve of Eid Al-Fitr, when Muslims celebrate the end of the Ramadan fast.
