Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Health and
Population, held a meeting with Dr. Mohamed Farid, Minister of Investment and
Foreign Trade, in the presence of officials from relevant authorities, to
discuss mechanisms for developing the comprehensive health insurance system and
strengthening cooperation with the private sector.
The aim is to expand health coverage and improve the
quality of services provided to citizens more efficiently and quickly.
Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar welcomed the Minister and his
team, noting that the meeting was part of an effort to present and discuss
innovative visions and ideas that will contribute to a qualitative leap in the
system's implementation. He emphasized that the comprehensive health insurance
system is progressing steadily and systematically, as demonstrated by its
success in the first phase, while intensive efforts continue to finalize
preparations for the second phase and ensure the sustainability of development
and comprehensive coverage for all citizens.
Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, the Ministry's official
spokesperson, explained that the meeting addressed the possibility of
strengthening cooperation and coordination with insurance companies within the
framework of the system.
This aims to support the expansion of health coverage
in a shorter timeframe.
The meeting reviewed a proposed model that begins with
inventorying the insurance networks of the companies, determining the number of
insured individuals, and assessing the coverage gap.
This would be followed by developing an operational
model that identifies market needs, paving the way for a transparent tender
process to select and contract with the most suitable partners.
The Minister directed to form a joint working group
comprising representatives from all relevant entities to study the idea
comprehensively, with the possibility of launching a pilot program in one
governorate before nationwide expansion.
For his part, Dr. Mohamed Farid affirmed that the
Ministry of Investment places great importance on strengthening partnerships
with the private sector in vital sectors, particularly healthcare, to support
the state's efforts to expand coverage and improve service efficiency.
