Minister
of Labour, Hassan Raddad, met with CEO of the Micro, Small and Medium
Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) Basel Rahmy at the ministry’s
headquarters in the New Administrative Capital to discuss expanding cooperation
on employment, training and entrepreneurship.
Raddad said the
ministry is fully prepared to support joint goals and will form a shared
committee to set priorities. He stressed the importance of cooperation in
training for employment, promoting entrepreneurship among young people and
supporting them to launch businesses.
The aim is to create
sustainable and quality job opportunities across all governorates. The minister
said the Ministry of Labour currently operates 82 fixed and mobile training centers,
adding that training halls in local directorates could also be allocated for
youth programs, depending on each governorate’s needs.
He emphasized the
need to focus on specializations required by the Labour market to ensure quick
employment opportunities. Rahmy congratulated Raddad on gaining the political
leadership’s trust and his appointment as minister.
He said Raddad’s
long experience within the ministry gives him deep knowledge of its departments
and strategic role. The MSMEDA chief outlined five urgent areas for
cooperation: training for employment, creating decent jobs, promoting
entrepreneurship culture, integrating small and micro enterprises into the
formal economy, and supporting vulnerable groups.
He highlighted the
agency’s role in contributing to the national employment strategy, which is
being prepared by the Ministry of Labor in cooperation with the International
Labour Organization and other state bodies.
Rahmy said MSMEDA
seeks to create jobs by encouraging citizens to start or expand businesses,
link employment offices with the agency to exchange data, and simplify
procedures for legalizing small businesses.
The meeting also
discussed coordination on proposed amendments to Law No. 152 of 2020,
particularly regarding home-based micro enterprises.
Both sides agreed to
translate discussions into concrete steps on the ground.
