Agriculture Minister: Dominican Markets Open to Egyptian Citrus
13 January 2026
About

As part of efforts to boost the competitiveness of Egyptian agricultural exports and expand into new markets, the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation announced the successful negotiations between the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine Authority and its counterpart in the Dominican Republic.

The discussions led to an agreement to officially open the Dominican market to Egyptian oranges, grapefruit, tangerines, and fresh pomegranates, effective 1 January 2026. This follows the technical guidelines issued by the Egyptian Agricultural Quarantine Authority after the signing of a mutually agreed action plan.

Opening Caribbean markets to Egyptian agricultural products aligns with the state’s strategy to increase export surpluses and generate foreign currency. The Dominican Republic, as a leading tourist destination in the Caribbean, has high demand for fresh fruits and vegetables to meet the needs of both residents and visitors.
