Cairo
Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber received a delegation from Shenyang, China, led by
the mayor of the city, Lu Zhicheng, in the presence of Ambassador Ali Al-Hefni,
chairman of the Egyptian-Chinese Friendship Association.
The two sides
discussed various aspects of cooperation between the governorate and the city
of Shenyang, particularly in trade and investment, culture, education,
environment, energy, and scientific research.
Governor Saber
welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the deep historical ties between Egypt and
China, which share an ancient history and civilization. He noted that these
relations are currently reflected in the close connection between President
Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Saber further
highlighted that this visit represents a new step toward strengthening local
cooperation between Cairo and Shenyang, especially considering the strategic
importance and significant economic and cultural capabilities of both cities.
Moreover, Saber
stated that the Cairo Governorate has signed twinning and cooperation
agreements with several Chinese cities to foster cooperation and exchange of
expertise.
During the meeting,
Saber reviewed Cairo Governorate's efforts in sustainable development and
infrastructure, as well as Cairo's status as a cultural center and a prominent
tourist and economic destination.
The meeting focused
on opportunities for exchanging expertise between the two sides in the fields
of investment and technology. They also discussed mechanisms to strengthen
cultural and educational exchange between the two cities.
During the meeting,
both sides emphasized the importance of activating the friendship agreement
between Cairo and Shenyang, signed in 2016, which aims to strengthen the ties
between the people of the two cities.
