Cairo
Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber highlighted that all goods are available at
affordable prices across all outlets and exhibitions, including the
"Al-Muwatan Awalan” outlets spread throughout the governorate’s
districts—especially in the most underserved areas—carried out in line with
President Abdel Fattah El‑Sisi’s directives to alleviate the burden on
citizens, particularly ahead of Eid al‑Fitr. These initiatives also guarantee
that goods are readily accessible, sold at reasonable prices, and of high quality.
Governor Saber
instructed the Director of the Supply Directorate to coordinate with the
Directors of the Veterinary Medicine and Health Affairs Directorates to conduct
intensive, periodic inspections of fresh fish shops and markets, as well as
smoked and salted fish shops (which citizens usually buy during Eid al-Fitr),
in addition to butcher shops and meat markets. These inspections aim to ensure
that all products are safe for consumption, protect public health, and enforce
legal measures against violators.
The director of
Cairo’s supply directorate, Abdel Basset Abdel Naeem, announced that an
operations room has been set up for the Eid holidays, open from 8:15 a.m. to
3:15 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Senior officials and department heads will
be present to receive and resolve citizens’ reports. Each district’s sub-supply
department will also have an operations room to receive complaints at the
following numbers: 27420019, 27420025, 27420037, and 27420038.
Moreover, Abdel
Naeem pointed out that bakery operating hours will return to their pre-Ramadan
schedule to provide bread throughout the day, with continuous monitoring by all
supply agencies. Leaves for commercial and supply control inspectors have been canceled,
and the new bread distribution system has been implemented in all bakeries
across Cairo. Ongoing inspections will ensure the availability of bread for
citizens and compliance with legal standards, as well as guarantee the
availability of strategic supply commodities in wholesale stores,
"Gam’iyati" project outlets, and consumer complexes. Additionally,
the presidential grant of 400 Egyptian pounds, allocated for March and April
for one million ration cards in Cairo targeting the most vulnerable groups,
would also be disbursed.
Abdel Naeem stated
that the Holding Company for Food Industries and its subsidiaries have supplied
various goods—including free sugar, flour, natural and artificial ghee, natural
butter, fresh and frozen fish, meat, eggs, salted fish, vegetables, and fruits—through
complexes to meet citizens' needs during the Eid holiday. Additionally, these
goods were distributed via stalls and exhibitions such as "Ahlan
Ramadan" (47 outlets), "Al-Muwatan Awalan" (78 outlets), one-day
markets, fixed and mobile outlets affiliated with the National Service Projects
Organization, and outlets associated with the Ministry of Interior (Aman).
Abdel Naeem further
explained that the directorate is coordinating with Butagasco and Petrogas
companies to cover all areas of the governorate during the days of Eid al-Fitr,
ensuring the supply of domestic butane gas cylinders to meet citizens' needs. A
resident inspector will be stationed at the main butane gas depots to supervise
the distribution and delivery of quotas to vehicles operated by graduate youth.
All centers, offices, and graduate youth vehicles will operate at full capacity
on the day before Eid, at 75% capacity on the second day of Eid, and return to
full capacity on the third day. He also noted that campaigns will be
intensified at car fueling stations throughout the Eid period to ensure the
availability of gasoline and diesel, preventing shortages and overcrowding at
the stations.
