Egypt seeks to enhance coop. with Canada
The
General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) affirmed the country’s
commitment to enhancing economic cooperation with Canada and creating an
attractive environment for foreign investments.
The authority gave
the remarks during a meeting with delegation of Canadian businesspeople who are
members of the Egyptian-Canadian Business Council, to discuss opportunities for
joint investment and expand cooperation between the two countries.
During the meeting,
GAFI presented Egypt’s investment climate, highlighting the competitive
advantages of the Egyptian economy, the country’s strategic location, and
priority sectors for investment. The investment map, which includes various
opportunities across different fields, was also presented.
Additionally, the
services offered by the Investment Services Center were showcased, which
provides simplified procedures for establishing companies, obtaining licenses,
and allocating land, in addition to offering investor services through a
unified digital platform that helps expedite procedures and enhance the
investor experience.
The meeting also
covered the various investment systems in Egypt, including free zones,
investment zones, technological zones, and special economic zones, along with
the incentives and facilities available for foreign investors.
The Canadian
delegation raised several questions regarding the regulatory frameworks for
investment, including the Golden License system and company establishment
procedures, which were addressed, and the available facilitation mechanisms
were discussed.
The meeting
concluded with an open discussion session between the business communities of
both sides, followed by a field visit to the Investment Services Center. The
authority reiterated its full commitment to supporting Canadian investors and
strengthening bilateral investment relations between the two countries.
