A significant drop in
temperature exceeding 5 degrees is expected from Saturday to Wednesday across
Egypt, warned the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA), after the country
witnessed extremely hot weather over the past few days caused by tropical air
masses.
The country’s northern
parts, as well as the northern parts of Upper Egypt will enjoy mild and sunny
weather.
However, the southern parts
of Upper Egypt – including Sohag, Qena, Luxor, Aswan, and the Red Sea
governorates – will experience hot weather, noted the EMA.
The weather is anticipated
to be cool nationwide during the night-times.
Heightened wind activity is
also anticipated across much of the country, stirring up sand and dust,
especially in the north and south of Upper Egypt.
Greater Cairo, the Delta
region, the northwestern coastal areas, and the Canal cities are expected to
witness light rainfall in the coming days.
The rain may turn into
moderate and occasionally thunderous showers on the Red Sea Mountain ranges,
South Sinai, and parts of the middle Sinai, as well as the northern and
southern parts of Upper Egypt.
The meteorological
authority predicts calm maritime navigation in the Mediterranean Sea, with
waves reaching 2 to 2.25 meters high and moderate navigation in the Red Sea,
with wave heights ranging from 1.5 to 1.75 meters.
