Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal
inaugurated Saturday a new outlet of the “Ahlan Ramadan” fairs at 9
Mokattam Street as part of the 100 outlets established by the Cairo governorate
across the capital. He added that the step follows the directives of political
leadership to provide citizens with strategic and food commodities of high
quality at affordable prices.
The “Ahlan Ramadan” fairs offer all
kinds of food commodities, including rice, sugar, flour, and macaroni, at lower
prices than the markets.
During the inauguration, the
governor asserted that the state makes great efforts to alleviate burdens on
citizens, especially in light of the repercussions of the Russian-Ukrainian
war.
The governor also announced that a
large number of outlets would be spread across Cairo in cooperation with the
Supply Directorate and the Chamber of Commerce across the capital, especially
in the neediest neighborhoods, to offer commodities at wholesale prices. He
added that the new outlet would be launched along with the city’s 2100 fixed
and mobile outlets.
Moreover, the governor confirmed that
the executive bodies of the Cairo governorate intensify inspection campaigns in
all areas and neighborhoods to ensure the availability of sufficient food commodities
at affordable prices and to prevent commercial fraud, price manipulation, and monopoly.
The governor also urged to take all necessary
legal actions against violators and to ensure that merchants display clear
legible price tags on each commodity.
The governor was accompanied by Deputy
Cairo Governor Jihan Abdel Moneim, Director of Supply Directorate Abdel Naeem
Hamed, and several executives of Cairo governorate.
