8 May 2021

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted that the state would not tolerate violation of Covid_19 precautionary measures taken to curb the spread of the virus during the last two weeks of the holy month of Ramadan and Eid Al-Fitr holiday.

Abdel Aal pointed out that he is following up the efforts made to apply the anti_Covid_19 precautionary measures, adding that the executive bodies of the Cairo governorate and districts' chiefs are working to ensure the implementation of the measures.

This came during the governor's sudden inspection tour of Cairo's districts to ensure that all shops, coffeehouses, malls, cafeterias, restaurants, cinemas, and theatres across Cairo are complying with the new closing hours at 9 pm, however, restaurants will be allowed to make home deliveries past 9 pm.

During his tour, the governor ordered to shut down several shops violating the new Covid_19 precautionary measures and directed to take the necessary legal actions against them.

Moreover, Abdel Aal urged shop owners to adhere to the new measures to prevent the spread of the virus and warned that the violators would face strict actions and a fine of LE 4000.

Abdel Aal also urged citizens to wear face masks and avoid crowded places and gatherings for their safety and the districts' chiefs to apply the precautionary measures strictly to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus and to deal with violators firmly.
