Egypt’s Omar Khairat to perform at Cairo Opera House on October 12,13

Veteran Egyptian musician Omar Khairat will perform at Cairo Opera House on October 12,13. Khairat will present a selection from his most famous musical compositions, which he presented over the course of his extended artistic career.

    

Khairat was a member of the Egyptian Band Les Petits Chats, founded in 1967. They presented Italian, French, and English songs. The band was immensely popular in the late 1960s and the early 1970s. He is influenced by different genres of music such as Arabic, European classical, Egyptian, African, Jazz, Pop, and Blues. He won the Best Musician Award in 1989 from the Egyptian Society for Cinema. 

 

Khairat is a composer that can blend the style of international symphonies with Egyptian music masterfully. He has composed many successful music pieces such as “Dameer Abla Hikmat” (Abla Hikmat’s Conscience), “Wagh el-Kamar” (The Moon's Face) and “Leilet el-Kabd ala Fatma” (The Night Fatma was Arrested), among others.  

 

Khairat's concerts held in Cairo Opera Houses often witness extensive turnout from fans. His music is a kind of fine art that has succeeded in achieving a huge fan base. His concerts have become a phenomenon that attracts attention from fans and followers of fine arts and all his concerts are fully booked.

 

One of his most notable innovations during the past period was the soundtrack for the movie "El-Mammar" [The Passage] starring Ahmed Ezz and directed by Sherif Arafa, which achieved unprecedented success in Egypt and the Arab World.
