Holy Family’s Journey on Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity
Egypt’s Minister of Culture Nevine el-Kilani announced
Egypt's success in registering the file related to the Holy Family’s Journey on
the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity at the
United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization [UNESCO].
This was announced by the International Intergovernmental
Committee of the Organization for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural
Heritage during its 17th session, currently being held in the Moroccan capital,
Rabat. Egypt had mobilized wide support for the file that reached the point of
consensus.
“Recording the celebrations associated with the Holy
Family's Journey on the representative list of intangible cultural heritage is
considered a message of peace, love and security from the land that embraced
the Holy Family, revived its course and preserved for many years the
celebration of its journey to Egypt," said Egypt’s Minister of Culture
Nevine el-Kilani.
It is noteworthy that Egypt began working on the file of the
celebrations associated with the Holy Family a few years ago. The Ministry
of Culture and a number of its affiliated bodies participated in it. The
Ministry of Foreign Affairs has made a great effort to achieve this success by
communicating with the concerned international parties, in addition to the participation
of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and many Egyptian civil institutions
and churches.
