Minister of Culture Dr Nevin
Al-Kilany met with Director General of the Islamic World Educational,
Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) Dr Salim M. AlMalik and his
accompanying delegation, to discuss a number of cultural and creative projects
within the framework of celebrating “Cairo – The capital of culture in the
Islamic world 2022”.
During the meeting, AlMalik
expressed his happiness with the activities organised by Egypt since the launch
of the programme in Cairo – the capital of culture in the Islamic world – last
April, stressing that Egypt gave a positive model of co-operation with several organizations
to present the activities in a way that represents the historical value of
Cairo and its great cultural and civilizational heritage.
Moreover, AlMalik also reviewed
several important initiatives, which were organized recently, including the “My
Heritage” Competition in the Field of Photography- which is supervised by the
Urban Harmony Authority subject to the Egyptian Ministry of Culture. This
project has achieved a great turnout by youth and those interested in this
field.
In addition to a number of
Initiatives about documenting tangible and intangible heritage, as well as
discussing the preparations of the closing ceremony of ‘Cairo – The capital of
culture in the Islamic world’ – which will be held in March 2023.
Meanwhile, Al-Kilany thanked the
ICESCO for this excellent co-operation, stressing that the Ministry of Culture,
with its various sectors, will work on preparing the closing ceremony of this
event in a way that presents the civilized values of the Egyptian, Arab and
Islamic culture, stressing that heritage is one of the main strategic axes of
the Ministry of Culture.
