Egypt’s Minister of
Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour said the health care
sector in Egypt is witnessing a significant development, thanks to the
unprecedented efforts made by the State to upgrade university hospitals in
accordance with the latest global standards.
All efforts fall
within directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to accelerate the
development of the health system in the country to improve medical services
offered to citizens, the higher education minister added.
The minister’s
remarks came during a meeting with Presidential Adviser for Health Affairs
Mohammad Awad Tag El-Din at the Higher Education Ministry’s headquarters in the
New Administrative Capital (NAC).
In this regard,
Ashour stressed the necessity of fostering cooperation and coordination between
university hospitals and the Ministry of Health’s hospitals to enhance the
quality of health services offered to citizens.
He lauded Tag El
Din’s valuable contributions to bolstering education and scientific research
programs in university hospitals and strengthening their role in implementing
presidential initiatives, especially the “100 Million Healthy Lives”
initiative.
The minister
emphasized the need to achieve the goals of the National Strategy for Higher
Education and Scientific Research 2030 in university hospitals, through
applying specific mechanisms that include analyzing the current situation,
identifying the actual needs of university hospitals and developing a future
vision for each of the seven regions.
Ashour stated that
university hospitals should be fully prepared to continue receiving injured
Palestinians of the Gaza Strip and providing the highest medical care for them,
as part of the political leadership’s instructions.
On that score, He
underlined the importance of supplying sufficient beds to accommodate all cases
coming from the Gaza Strip, equipping operating rooms with the medical
equipment necessary to perform surgical operations and providing highly
experienced doctors and technicians in various medical specialties.
