Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal inspected Sunday, accompanied by the Executive Director of the Urban Development Fund Eng. Khaled Sediq, the ongoing restoration work in Historic Cairo.
Abdel Aal pointed out that the restoration project, which is a collaborative effort between the Cairo governorate, the Urban Development Fund, and the Engineering Authority includes the area behind Al-Hakim Mosque, Om El-Gholam area, El-Mashad El-Husseiny Street, Bab Zewila area, and El-Labanna Alley.
Moreover, Abdel Aal said that the general view of the Historic Cairo Development Project is based on preserving and improving the social and economic activities of the area’s urban fabric. It also aims to turn historic Cairo into a tourist destination to restore the capital’s previous glory and position.
Abdel Aal added that a specialized consulting team is responsible for the renovation work and that work is in full swing to finish the project, given it is one of the national projects.
