Cairo Governorate continues preparations for royal mummies transfer

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal asserted Monday that the executive bodies of Cairo governorate continue its intensive preparations for the   anticipated big event of transferring 22 royal mummies from the Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square to the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization in Fustat area.  

 

Abdel Aal called on all citizens to watch this unique and majestic event on television, assuring that all state authorities are working in full swing to present this event in the proper way that fits Egypt's position and the greatness of our ancestors.

 

Moreover, the governor said that the governorate is working on upgrading the path of the royal mummies procession starts in Tahrir Square to Al-Fustat area in Masr Al-Qadima district.

 

During his tour, the governor met young participants of the "Beautify Your City" initiative, organized by the Cairo governorate in cooperation with Egypt's Ministry of Youth and Sports from 19 March to 5 April across Cairo, as they were cooperating with the executive bodies of Cairo governorate to prepare the path of the royal mummies procession.

 

The number of mummies and coffins to be transported is 22 royal mummies and 17 royal coffins, dating back to the 17th, 18th, 19th, and 20th Dynasties. 18 of the mummies are for kings, while 4 belong to queens.
