Cairo Gov. attends celebration of ‘Iqraa Noon al-Sahar’ anniversary
Cairo
Governor Dr. Ibrahim Saber attended the celebration, marking the first
anniversary of the inauguration of the "Iqraa Noon al-Sahhar" library
in the Nasr City neighborhood, held under the title "A Year of
Enlightenment, Intellect, Culture, and Creativity." The library offers
free book reading services to the public.
During the ceremony,
Governor Saber honored a group of male and female students from Nabawia Musa
School located in the 8th District of Nasr City. These students were
winners of a competition to present a book about ancient Egyptian civilization
and to write an article on the inauguration of the new Egyptian Museum. This
competition was part of the National Reading Project. He also honored several
members of the competition's judging committee.
Moreover, Saber stated that this state-established library aligns with
the directives of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to expand public libraries
across Cairo. This reflects the president’s belief in the vital role libraries
play in raising awareness, deepening knowledge and scientific understanding,
and encouraging young people to read, conduct research, and elevate their
cultural level.
Saber also said another public library will be inaugurated in the Maadi
district in coordination with the Ministry of Culture and the Maxim Charitable
Foundation. This library will provide distinguished educational materials and
cultural services aimed at all ages and community groups. Its goal is to spread
culture and knowledge, enhance general education, encourage continuous
learning, and establish the library as a center for intellectual and cultural
innovation.
The governor added that this library represents a model of integration
and constructive administrative partnership between executive bodies, civil
society organizations, and NGOs to improve the quality of life provided to
citizens.
The Noon al-Sahar Library is situated on Shinzo Abe Axis in Nasr City,
covering a total area of 625 m². This includes 105 m² designated for adult
reading and 16 m² for children. Additionally, the library features a 300 m²
outdoor space, arranged as an open garden, and houses 6,000 books across
various fields of knowledge.
