Cairo Gov. inspects final preparations for GEM Inauguration
            Dr.
Ibrahim Saber, the Governor of Cairo, inspected the final preparations to
enhance the visibility of the Ring Road as part of the state's plan to
highlight the aesthetic features in the area surrounding the Grand Egyptian
Museum (GEM) and the roads leading to it ahead of its inauguration.
Governor Saber
stated that the executive bodies of the Cairo Governorate are intensifying
efforts in preparation for the official inauguration of this significant
edifice. The preparations include the installation of illuminated billboards
showcasing the history of Cairo throughout the ages along the Ring Road in the
eastern Nile sector, spanning 12 kilometers between the beginning of the
Autostrad Road and the Nile. This work is being carried out in five sectors to
the north and six sectors to the south, within the districts of Al-Basatin, Dar
Al-Salam, and Old Cairo.
Saber added that
enhancing the visual perception of the Ring Road was a collaborative effort
between the governorate and Ain Shams University. It included painting the
building facades along the road in harmonious colors, installing illuminated
billboards, and adding distinctive elements such as plants, trees, lighting
poles, and display screens. These features will shed light on Egyptian
civilization and the governorate's logo while connecting the BRT stations and
microbus stops with this unique identity in a manner befitting the global
significance of the Grand Museum's opening.
Moreover, Saber
emphasized the Governorate's commitment to showcasing the aesthetic features of
the areas and roads leading to the Grand Egyptian Museum in a manner befitting
the museum's status as the largest cultural project currently being developed in
the world.
