Cairo Gov. announces smart green initiative requirements
8 May 2023
About

Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal said Monday that projects that would participate in the National Initiative for Smart Green projects must be smart and green, following the evaluation criteria of each category. He added that each project should be registered in its relevant category according to the volume and nature of the participating institution (not-for-profit/gender-related). In addition, the project, one of its phases, or a prototype must have been implemented, and it must meet the urgent needs of the governorate. It also has to be within the geographical scope of its governorate and include an element of creativity.

Moreover, the initiative includes green smart projects in six categories: large projects, medium-sized projects, small-scale domestic projects (as part of Decent Life Initiative), projects by start-ups, not-for-profit community activities, and gender-related, climate change- and sustainability-focused projects, Abdel Aal said.

In this context, Cairo governorate organized several introductory seminars at the Faculty of Agriculture, the Center of Creativity and Entrepreneurship at Ain Shams University, and Shubra Youth Center on how to register in the 2nd round of the initiative launched by the Egyptian government to maximize the use of state’s resources and protect the environment, use technology to support state’s digital transformation plan and empower Egyptian women.

The seminars covered the categories targeted by the initiative, the types of projects, the evaluation criteria, and how to submit your projects on the initiative’s website from April 2023 to the end of May 2023.
