Dr Khaled El-Elnany is the keynote speaker in the round table discussion organized by the German NUMOV in Berlin
Under the title “Egypt” Dr Khaled El-Elnany Minister of
Tourism and Antiquities was the keynote speaker in the round table discussion
organized by the German Near and Middle East Association NUMOV, held today in
Berlin.
Thomas Ellerbeck, member of the advisory board of the NUMOV
said that Egypt is one of the most important and is a favorite travel
destination for German holiday makers.
Dr El-Enany talked about Egypt’s relentless efforts to
mitigate the effects of the Coronavirus and reviewed the hygiene safety
regulations implemented. He said that all staff of the tourism sector in South
Sinai and the Red Sea have been vaccinated against COVID-19; adding that by the
end of June all citizens in these two governorates will be vaccinated. The
Minister indicated that the tourism staff in Luxor. Aswan, Cairo and Alexandria
are currently being vaccinated.
The Minister referred to the gradual increase in the numbers
of inbound tourism to Egypt since the resumption of tourism last July,
indicating that Egypt received 525 thousand tourists in April 2021, which is
almost 50% of the numbers in April 2019.
He also talked about the government’s support the tourism
industry in Egypt; and the incentives given to promote tourism; like offering a
discount on aviation fuel prices, bringing the total value of the discount to
15 cents per gallon; a 50% discount on landing and boarding fees, and a 20%
discount on the fees for ground services in airports until 31st October, 2021.
The German Near and Middle East Association NUMOV is
Germany's oldest and largest organization that promotes economic development
between Germany and the countries of the Near and Middle East.
