The National Museum of Egyptian Civilization received Queen
Sofia de Grecia of Spain and her accompanying delegation.
Spain’s Queen Sofia de Grecia was received by CEO of the
Museum’s Authority Ahmed Ghoneim, who took her and her accompanying delegation
on an inspection tour during which she got acquainted with the museum’s
reception building, the area overlooking Ain al-Sira Lake, the Open Theater, as
well as the unique archaeological dye that was discovered dating back to the
Fatimid era.
Ghoneim also introduced Queen Sofia de Grecia to the
different halls of the museum and its distinguished holdings, which narrate the
history of Egyptian civilization from prehistoric times to the modern era, in
addition to the cultural and heritage activities, events and art exhibitions
organized and hosted by the museum in order to maximize its cultural, artistic
and educational role.
Moreover, Mohamed Mukhtar, the chief archaeologist at the
museum, accompanied the queen and her accompanying delegation on a tour inside
the various halls of the museum, during which she got acquainted closely with
the archaeological treasures of the museum, which chronicle the Egyptian
civilization in its brightest ages and highlight the creations of the ancient
Egyptians in the Central Exhibition Hall, the Royal Mummies Hall and the
Egyptian Textile Hall.
