15 film projects from 10 Arab
countries have been shortlisted to compete in the 9th edition of the Cairo Film
Connection (CFC), which will be held during the 44th Cairo International Film
Festival (CIFF) that takes place 13-22 November.
“We want to consolidate the
relationship between Arab industry and the international cinema by offering a
selection of promising projects from ten countries of the Arab world that
highlight different stories that reflect the reality of the situation faced in
these countries,” stated CFC manager Lynda Belkhiria.
The selected projects, which
include documentary and feature narrative films in the development and
post-production phase, include five from Egypt, two from Tunisia and, one from
each of Jordan, Yemen, Lebanon, Algeria, Morocco, Sudan, Palestine, and Saudi
Arabia.
Held as part of Cairo Industry Days
at the CIFF, the CFC provides a space for discussions, networking, meetings,
workshops, master classes, and partnership and co-production opportunities between Arab talents and regional and international industry
professionals.
CIFF, one of the oldest-standing
film festivals in the Arab world and Africa, is the only festival in the region
accredited as an (A) festival by FIAPF – the International Federation of Film
Producers.
