Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal and
the Chairman of the Urban Development Fund signed Monday a cooperation
agreement to manage residential units of the El-Khayala Housing project in the Basatin
district.
Abdel Aal asserted that, under the
agreement, the Cairo governorate would manage, whether by itself or by
contracted companies, the El-Khayala Housing project, which includes 42 buildings
and service areas, as well as carry out all necessary maintenance work in a way
that achieves the sustainability of the project.
Abdel Aal, furthermore, pointed out
that the El-Khayala
Housing Project is one of the mega national projects implemented by the state
as an alternative to the informal settlements in the Masr El-Qadima
neighborhood. He added that the project consists of 42 buildings with a total
of 2268 fully-furnished residential units, in addition to a mosque, church, police station, fire
department, ambulance station, post office, youth centre, and public park.
Abdel Aal added that the project also includes outlets
for food commodities and public transport services as part of the services
provided by the state to the residents.
Moreover, Abdel Aal asserted that the alternative housing projects implemented by the state contributed
to eliminating informal settlements and providing decent life to its residents,
as well as improving all provided services.
