Cairo celebrates today Monday 6
July 2020 National Day that marks the 1051st anniversary of its
foundation by the Fatimid leader Jawhar El-Siqilli in 696 during the reign of
the Fatimid Caliph El-Mo'ez Ledin Allah Al-Fatimi.
Cairo Governor Khaled Abdel Aal emphasized
that this year would witness the inauguration of several service projects for
the benefit of Cairo citizens, including establishing, expanding, and upgrading
19 schools in the neediest districts in all areas of Cairo.
Moreover, the governor said that
the Public Transport Authority received 550new buses worth LE 550 million to increase
the authority's fleet by 160% as well as inaugurating several medical and youth
centers across different areas in Cairo.
In the past, Cairo was known as Al-Qatai
and Al-Fustat, as well as El-Mansoureya. Then after the Fatimid leader
conquered Egypt at the request of the Caliph El-Mo'ez Ledin Allah Al-Fatimi on
6 July 2020, it was called Al-Qahira.
Cairo has some of the world's most
famous monuments, and landmarks represent different kinds of civilization Pharaonic,
Roman, Coptic, Byzantine, and Islamic.
The Egyptian Capital is the world's
oldest city whose history dates back to the dawn of human civilization.
It is one of the most ancient cities that bear witnessed civilization flourish over
the ages. It is also a global tourist destination and a hub of commerce,
business, and science.
