Cairo International Book Fair
The Cairo International Book Fair is one of the greatest and oldest yearly cultural events in the Middle East. In 2006, it was the second-largest book fair in the world after the Frankfurt Book Fair. The fair is considered an opportunity for authors, publishers, all those professionally concerned with books and responsible for reading and culture in all countries to exchange their knowledge and to promote all-round cultural cooperation among nations and popularize the finest publications which further peace.
The CIBF was founded by the General Egyptian Book Organization, a government publishers and retailers group, in 1969 to coincide with celebrations of the 1000th anniversary of the founding of the city of Cairo.
